A Bovine growth hormone has been created to help cows produce more milk. It was made by Monsanto and although it works well it is not healthy for the cows. The chemical makes the cows more susceptible to mastitis. The cows that have mastitis have udders that are swollen, hot, red and hard. The milk that the cows with mastitis produces is watered down. When a cow is given the BGH(bovine growth hormone) there is an accelerated amount of IGF-1(insulin-like growth factor - 1) that is present in the cow. It is harmless to cows and humans but if another animal ingests it then they can develop cancer. The IGF-1 messes with cell development and causes a positive net growth of cells causing a cancer to form.
